Bill Cowher - Off the List

Congratulations to Bill Cowher who became the first NFL head coach to make it off my "NFL Head Coaches who will never win a Super Bowl" list. Cowher started his second guessing road to oblivion early on but Hines Ward, Willie Parker, and the Seattle Special Teams unit grabbed Cowher by his huge Groucho Marx nose and yanked him into the win column and off the list.

Would it be correct to say that Cowher didn't out coach Mike Holmgren, rather, Holmgren's game plan out-sucked Cowher's?

Good riddance to this Super Bowl.

My more recent theory on the subject is that Bill Cowher doesn't necessarily have to second guess himself but as long as he is on the field, one of the coaches does have to second guess himself. That would also exlain why the Steelers didn't honk it to a second guessing blitz happy Shannahan. So I guess while Cowher is on the field, some second guessing must happen at all times. He was just fortunate enough that Holmgren did the second guessing for him in the second half by abandoning his underneath game plan and changing to a much less effective pass the ball deep to Pittsburg defenders game plan.
